Areas we cover
CONFINEd SPACE ENTRY
A small, enclosed area can be fatal. In the UK, employment in confined spaces claims the lives of 15 individuals on average every year across a variety of industries, from those involving sophisticated machinery to those involving straightforward rooms and storage vessels. A significant percentage of persons have major injuries as well. Not only are individuals who are working in the restricted space killed, but also those who attempt to rescue them without the necessary knowledge and tools.
Policy for Confined Spaces
The goal of Environmental Waste Management is to make sure that:
Wherever feasible, entry into tight spaces is avoided.
All risks have been taken into account, and there are enough safe work procedures and emergency plans in place when entrance into restricted areas is necessary to minimise the risk of injury to the people involved.
Ensure that all applicable laws are followed.
Any space that is contained and where there is a possibility of death or serious damage due to potentially harmful materials or situations (such as a lack of oxygen) is considered a confined space.
Examples of Confined Spaces
Enclosures with a small number of openings
Tank storage
Silos
Closed sewers and drains
Others could be less evident, yet they might still be deadly, such as.
Uncovered chamber
Vats
Boiler combustion chambers, etc.
Ductwork
Poorly or not at all ventilated rooms
Providing a complete list of limited spaces is impossible. Also to be considered is the possibility of some locations becoming cramped areas during building, fabrication, or subsequent modifications.
Confined Space Work Permit
Environmental Waste Management has all the tools, training, authorisations, and expertise required for confined space entrance and working.
At depths of up to 70 metres, Environmental Waste Management has been performing confined space work on some major national infrastructure projects. This work frequently presents new, often unanticipated challenges that necessitate our expertise in this area to create a work plan that satisfies both confined space regulations and our clients' needs.
Please get in touch with Environmental Waste Management with your needs so we can discuss how we can help to complete your project.
